Message from the Chair

On behalf of our fantastic team of radiologists, residents, fellows, technologists, and staff, welcome to the Department of Radiology at The University of Mississippi Medical Center. 

We are a leading academic radiology practice fulfilling the education, research, and patient care mission and vision of The University of Mississippi Medical Center. 

Our top-tier radiology team coupled with the latest radiology equipment and imaging techniques optimizes the patient care experience, diagnosis and confirmation of medical conditions, treatment planning, therapeutic procedures, and evaluation of the effectiveness of treatments. We offer patients and their referring clinicians advanced medical imaging procedures at multiple locations within Mississippi, serving patients within our state and beyond. Our flagship location is located in Jackson and is our state’s only Level 1 trauma center. 

Quality and safety throughout our radiology workforce and workplace is a priority. Over 40 American Board of Radiology-certified radiologists provide expert imaging interpretations and therapeutic interventions. We generate detailed, clinically useful, and timely diagnostic imaging reports and provide the most up-to-date interventional radiology procedures. We are accredited by the American College of Radiology in all imaging services, and our technologists are credentialed by multiple national certification boards and registries. We minimize patient radiation exposure while maintaining superior image quality.

We equip the next generation of radiologists with the best educational foundation and opportunities so that they may best care for their current and future patients. UMMC radiology trainees are rewarded with an exceptional educational experience through a high volume of cases and procedures, a wide array of clinical cases, and through multiple educational formats. Our dedicated UMMC radiology residents and radiology fellows provide a superior level of service within our radiology department, throughout our healthcare system, and, most importantly, to the patients entrusted to our care. 

Our strong radiology research team is nationally and internationally recognized, bringing innovative and effective radiological expertise and services to patients at UMMC. 

In August 2020, a new multimillion dollar interventional radiology suite was opened and features the most modern equipment available. 

In November 2020, a Children’s of Mississippi hospital tower expansion opened, with a new world-class radiology department with top-of-the-line radiology equipment to serve pediatric patients and their families. 

Our radiology team is committed to excellence in everything we do with a goal of exceeding every expectation.
